Fire Study!
Well.
All I can say is, I should've picked up this series sooner. I made a really big effort to grab the books before they disappeared (from past experience - I never got to read The Rainbow Opera because I hesitated when it was still in stock! Damn!), but the whole trilogy costs me a frickin' 60 bucks (bestselling stories & their prices ;-;), so I ditched the 2nd book & got the first and last instead.
Even if I don't have a middle, I have the beginning & the end, LOL. Good enough for me.
But, as I usually do, I read the last book first since I cannot read the first book first (doing so just bores me, I don't know why, LOL.). And also I was oh-so-interested in knowing exactly what Yelena did with Opal. =_="
That said, I think books bleed my money faster than Opal can siphon magic from a magician with her deadly glass orbs. Once they succeed in making me obsess over a character, that is. Just look at WL. It's a pain waiting for Darkest Mercy and I still have a good many months to go (KAR MEN!! Weep with me LOL)
I love Moon Man. He and Yelena make for most entertaining camp fights. It's a pity, the way his life turned out... but he still made me snort, up till his last moment with Yelena. @_@ I think I'll write a tribute to him someday. When I actually have an idea of what to write.
And Valek wasn't bad. Surprise, surprise. It's one of those books where the characters succeed in not being annoying, lol. Yelena wasn't as annoying as Opal. They share a few traits, most notably the sarcasm, but Yelena lacks Opal's recklessness. So it wasn't a pain to keep reading (I swear, I was cursing away at Opal's stupidity - or naivety, I guess - by the time I finished half of Sea Glass).
And okay, I have to stop rambling. My newest idea kinda flopped after I looked it through, so I guess I'll leave it in the dumps for future reference.
Lastly, I was surprised to find out that the concept of magic in Ixia and Sitia is very, very, very similar to my concept of magic for hml ca10, LOL. It's just too bad she published her books first. :3 Kidding. Lol. I'll just keep my fingers crossed & hope I'll come up with something publishable someday. ~.~
